Community Access

Getting out and doing things you are into, with someone who is into them too. Events, clubs, hangouts, whatever your version of community looks like.

What This Looks Like

Community access is not about filling time. It is about being part of things that matter to you, with support that makes it possible rather than awkward.

We match you with a worker who shares your interests. Into live music? Your worker knows the venues. Want to join a gaming group? Your worker plays too. Like going to the gym? Your worker will spot you.

The goal is not dependence on us. It is building the connections and confidence to participate on your own terms. Sometimes that means your worker fades into the background while you do your thing. Sometimes it means they are right beside you.

What We Do

Your interests drive the plan. We make it happen.

  1. Interest-Based Outings

Activities built around what you love. Sports, gaming cafes, art galleries, live music, markets, fishing, whatever gets you out the door.

    In Practice

"That last card hit the table and the look on your face was priceless. Entering tournaments now and chatting strategy between rounds. The gaming cafe feels like your spot."

  2. Exercise & Sport

Gym sessions, swimming, team sports, walks, and any physical activity you want to try. Your worker participates, not just supervises.

    In Practice

"Ten kilos more than last month and the form looked clean. You set up the bar, checked the mirror, and pulled it smooth. Feel good? Want to try another two and a half next week?"

  3. Volunteering

Finding volunteer roles that match your skills and interests. Great for building routine, confidence, and real connections.

    In Practice

"The shelter manager just asked you to show the new volunteer how feeding time works. Eight weeks in and they're trusting you to guide someone else. That's a lovely thing."

  4. Social Groups & Clubs

Joining existing groups, clubs, and meetups in your community. Your worker helps you get comfortable and connected.

    In Practice

"Third session and you walked straight in, found a seat, started chatting with the guy next to you about lens filters. The photography club is a good fit. I might grab a coffee down the road next week while you're in there."

  5. Events & Experiences

Concerts, footy games, expos, festivals, and one-off experiences. We handle tickets, transport, and the logistics so you just enjoy it.

    In Practice

"Front section, left side. You remembered the comedian does audience stuff on the right, so you picked these seats on purpose. Smart call. Three hours of comedy and a brilliant night out."

  6. Building Independence

Gradually reducing support as your confidence grows. The goal is you doing things on your own, not needing us forever.

    In Practice

"Bus to the library, an hour browsing, text when you got home. You planned the whole trip yourself and it went smoothly. That kind of independence just builds on itself."

NDIS & fee-for-service

Cost, Eligibility & Getting Started

The practical details on funding and how to get a worker matched to you.

What It Costs

Community access is funded through Core Supports in your NDIS plan. Pricing follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, and the amount depends on the type of support and whether it happens on a weekday, evening, or weekend.

If you do not have NDIS funding, community access is available fee-for-service. Cost is always confirmed in writing before support starts.

Am I Eligible?

Community access sits under Core Supports, specifically Assistance with Social & Community Participation. If your plan includes this category, you can use it for this support.

A support coordinator can help you check. It is also available fee-for-service without a plan.

Where We Work

Get Unlocked is based in Thomastown and works across Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western, and eastern suburbs, plus parts of regional Victoria.

Community access happens out in the world, so your worker travels to wherever you want to go rather than the other way around.

How To Start

Get in touch, have a quick chat about your goals and your plan, then get matched with a worker who shares your interests.

From there we book your first session together.
